Meine Zeit in Neuseeland ist vorbei. Was kann ich sagen?

Es war die beste Entscheidung meines Lebens. Ich bin froh dieses Abenteuer bestritten zu haben. Ich habe neue Freunde gefunden, neue Dinge gelernt (auch über mich) und angewöhnt, viel erlebt, eigene Grenzen überschritten oder neu gezogen. Ich werde diese 9 Monate definitiv in bester Erinnerung halten und gerne daran zurück denken.

Ich möchte auch noch einmal Danke sagen. An meine Kollegen dort, am anderen Ende der Welt. Ihr habt mir viel beigebracht, dass ich gerne umsetzen werde. An meine Chefs in Neuseeland, für die Möglichkeit bei euch zu arbeiten und die Unterstützung die ich erfahren habe.

Zum anderen möchte ich auch an meinen Chef hier in Duetschland danke sagen, dass er mich frei gestellt hat und mir so die Möglichkeit gab in Neuseeland Erfahrung zu sammeln und meine Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten zu verbessern.

Und zu guter Letzt möchte ich mich auch bei meiner Familie und meinen Freunden bedanken, die mich, auch trotz der Ferne, untertützt haben.

Besonderen Dank möchte ich an meine Freundin richten. Sie hat mich mehr oder weniger dazu gebracht mich endlich zu bewerben und zu gehen. Die mich auch besucht hat und so dem Aufenthalt noch das Krönchen aufgsetzt hat.

My time In New Zealand is over. What can I say?

It was the best decision, I have ever made in my life. I am glad that I made this adventure. I found new friends, learned a lot (about myself, too) and got used to new things, experienced much, went over my own lines and made new ones. I hold this 9 months in best memories and will recall them with joy.

I want to say thank you again. To my colleagues on the other side of the world. You guys teached me a lot, which I will do here in Germany as well. To my bosses in New Zealand, for the possability to work for you and the support I experienced.

I want to tank my boss here in Germany as well. He released me from work. So I could go and gave me the possability to increase my skills.

At last, I want to thank my family and friends, who supported me despite the distance.

Special thanks go to my girlfriend. Without her, I wouldn't have applied for that job (she literally forced me ;] ) She also visited me, which made this stay much better.

So jetzt ist Halbzeit (so um den Dreh) und ich denke Zeit für ein kleines Resumée.

Arbeit: Mega!
Die Kollegen sind super nett, die Chefs natürlich auch. Die Aussichten (teilweise, je nach Baustelle) sind überwältigend und atemberaubend.
Die Arbeitsweisen unterscheiden sich im Großen und Ganzen nicht wirklich von Deutschland.
Der größte Unterschied, der mir auffiel, ist, dass hier im GaLaBau nicht so viel Maschinen eingesetzt werden. Also ist alles viel mehr Handarbeit. Wie ich auch schon in einem anderen Beitrag schrieb, gibt es auch viel mehr Pflanzung. Diese sind, meiner Meinung nach, viel größer in der Fläche als Rasenflächen. Hauptsächlich werden einheimische Pflanzen eingesetzt.
Auch hier gibt es die Kieswüsten, die man vermehrt in Deutschland sieht. Aus denselben Gründen: Pflegeleicht und schnell fertig. Doch hier werden mehrere Korngrößen eingebaut, große Findlinge und Pflanzen als Blickfänge mit eingesetzt. Das lockert die sterilen Flächen auf und macht sie somit zu einer spannenden Applikation im Garten.
Ich fand hier schon einige Inspiration bzw. Ideen und effektive Arbeitsmethoden, die ich auf jeden Fall in Deutschland einsetzen werde.

Das Leben: Hier ist Sommer. Mehr brauche ich dazu eigentlich nicht sagen ;)
Natürlich auch hier ein kurzer Bericht dazu. Meine WG ist klasse. Jeder spielt mit und wir haben viel Spaß miteinander. Und das Haus ist super.
Die Lebensmittel sind etwas teurer als in Deutschland bzw. Europa (vor allem Früchte und Gemüse). Ich habe meine Kochkünste verfeinert, wobei ich trotzdem noch viel zu lernen habe und auch möchte. (Persönliche Anmerkung: ich hatte noch keine Tiefkühlpizza hier in NZ!) Aber man vermisst auch die mütterlichen und regionalen Kochkünste der Heimat.
Ansonsten gibt es so das übliche, man ist mal hier mal da, geht schwimmen und macht den einen oder anderen Ausflug (siehe nächster Abschnitt). Oder man ist faul und entspannt sich auch mal ;)

Reisen: Viel gesehen, erlebt und für gut befunden!
Ich bin schon etwas herum gekommen hier in Neuseeland (Südinsel/Te Waipounamu). Nicht zuletzt aufgrund des Roadtrips mit meinem Schatz. Ich war schon in Akaroa bei den Pinguinen, in Christchurch, entlang der Ostküste und auf Stewart Island.
Ich bin auch einige Kilometer gewandert. Der Rekord liegt bei 26 km (Kopuwai) in fast 7 Stunden. Mein Plan sieht vor noch den einen oder anderen Ausflug hier im südlichen Teil zu machen, wie zum Beispiel Milford Sound und die Glühwurm-Höhlen in Te Anau. Auch Wanderungen sind eingeplant. Aber ich habe noch Zeit bis Ende Mai. Wenn hier der Winter hereinbricht und die Arbeit es zulässt werde ich mich auf meinen großen finalen Roadtrip begeben, der mich nach Auckland auf der Nordinsel führt um von dort abzufliegen.

Natur: Atemberaubend!
Wie ich oben schon schrieb, haben wir hier einige Baustellen mit super Aussichten auf den See (Lake Wakatipu). Zum Beispiel in Bob's Cove etwas außerhalb von Queenstown. Und natürlich die Bergkette Remarkables. Sie wurden so genannt, weil sie ihre Farbe im Laufe des Tages ändern. Die erkennt man überall wieder (war auch Kulisse für Herr der Ringe).
Neuseeland ist vor ca. 80 Millionen Jahren von der großen Landmasse Gondwanaland abgebrochen. So konnte sich eine eine einzigartige Natur aus Urwald-, Berg- und Graslandschaften entwickeln. Auch die Tierwelt ist/war ziemlich einzigartig. Hier gab es bis zur Besiedlung durch die Europäer nichts als Reptilien, Insekten und Fledermäuse (die einzige Säugetierspezies). Die Siedler führten, Hunde, Katzen, Ratten, Opossums und allerlei Säugegetier ein, die natürlich (auch heute noch) die einheimischen Vögel wie Pinguine und Kiwis gefährden bzw. Jagen. Doch dazu in meinem Naturbeitrag (folgt) mehr.
Durch meine Wanderungen habe ich schon so einiges and Landschaften hier gesehen. Von Wald über Graslandschaften bis hin zu alpinen Steingebieten, wo nur kleine robuste Pflänzchen wachsen können.
Auf jeden Fall lohnt es sich, sich auch mal ohne Auto oder Camper auf den Weg zu machen um Neuseelands einzigartige und malerische Landschaft zu sehen und zu fühlen. Ich war noch nie so nah an unberührter Natur.

Work: Great!
My colleagues and bosses are very nice. The views (depends on site) are gorgeous and breathtaking. The working methods haven't not that big difference to Germany.
The biggest difference I noticed is, that the landscapers here don't use that much machines. It is a lot more manual work. As I already mentioned in another entry, there are a lot more plantings. These are in relation to lawnareas much bigger. The majority of the plants are natives.
Here are these gravelareas like in Germany as well, for the same reason. They are easy to maintain and finished very quick. But here we use different sizes as well as plants and feature rocks. Which are break up the sterile surfaces of the gravelareas to make a good application in the garden.
I found lots of inspiration and learned effective working methods, which I will use in Germany.

Life: It is summer here. Nothing more to say!
Of course, a short report on that, as well. My housemates are super. Everyone plays his part and we have lots of fun here. And the house is awesome.
Food is more expensive than in Germany or Europe (especially vegetables and fruits). I increased my cooking skills, whereby I have to and want to learn more. (Personal note: I haven't ate any freezed Pizza here in NZ so far!) But also I miss the culinary skills of my mother and the dishes of my region.
Apart from that, I am here and there, go swimming and for one or another trip (see next paragraph). Or I am lazy and relx for a while ;)

Trips: Seen and expierenced a lot, and think it is good!
I came around a bit in New Zealand (South Island/Te Waipounamu). Not at least because of the rodtrip with my girlfriend. I already went to Akaroa and the Penguins, to Christchurch, along the Eastcoast and to Stewart Island.
Also, I hiked a few kilometers. Record is 26 km (Kopuwai) in almost 7 hours. My plans are to make one or another trip in the south. For example to go to the Milford Sound or the Glowworm Caves in Te Anau. Hikes are planned as well. I have got heaps of time till the end of May. When winter comes I will go for the big final roadtrip, which takes me to the North Island and Auckland, from where I depart to Germany.

Nature: Breathtaking!
As I already wrote, we have beautiful views of the Lake Wakatipu, like in Bobscove a little bit out of Queenstown. And of course the mountain range “The Remarkables”. They are named like that, because they change their colour during the day. You recognize them anytime (and they were scenery for The Lord of the Rings).
New Zealand broke up from Gondwanaland 80 Million years ago. So a unique flora, mounatinranges, jungle and grassfields developed. As well as the animals. There were only reptiles and three species of bats, which made the only mammals on land. Until the european settlers came. They brang cats, dogs, rats, possums and other predators to the NZ-natives. This behaviour endangerd the penguins, Kiwis and other birds, reptiles and so on. I will describe it a little bit more in my entry about the nature.
During my hikes I saw a lot of different landscapes. I saw forests, grassranges and alpine areas, where only small robust plants are growing.
In any case, it is worth it to go without a car or camper to see and feel New Zealands picturesque and unique landscape. I have never been so close to untouched nature.

Da meine Freundin mir eine monatliche Aufgabe gibt, damit ich nicht zu faul herumsitze, werde ich diese hier in meinem Blog niederschreiben.
Diese widmet sich der Politik Neuseelands. Hier also der eine oder andere Fakt.

Die Wahlen haben das gleiche System wie in Deutschland. Eine Mischung aus Persönlichkeits- und Verhältniswahl. Also eine Stimme für einen Kandidaten und eine für die Partei. Eine Legislaturperiode beträgt drei Jahre. Das besondere hier ist, dass es reservierte Sitze für Maori-Abgeordnete gibt.

Das Oberhaupt der Regierung sind der Premierminister, bzw. seit Ende 2017 die Ministerin Jacinda Ardern, und der Generalgouverneur, der die Queen vertritt. Auch alle Minister sind involviert und bilden somit das höchste formale Gremium.
Neuseeland gilt als vollständige Demokratie, die aber auf einer konstituellen Monarchie basiert.
Die Legislative wird aus Sovereign (gebildet von der britischen Krone → also der Generalgouverneur) und dem House of Representatives (den vom Volk gewählten Vertretern) gebildet.

Die Rolle der Queen hier in Neuseeland ist immernoch die, der Königin und die des Staatsoberhauptes. Nur wird sie hier durch den Generalgouverneur vertreten. Dieser wird, auf Empfehlung des Premierministers, durch das sogenannte Letters Patent von der britischen Krone ernannt. Auch hier wird die Position, seit dem 28.09.2016, von Frau Patsy Reddy besetzt.

Neuseeland hat kein allumfassendes Dokument, dass als Verfassung gilt. Also vergleichbar zum deutschen Grundgesetz. Allerdings wird der vertrag von Waitangi vom 06.02.1840 als erste Verfassung angesehen. Er enthält die wichtigesten drei Dinge einer Verfassung. Die Souveränität eines Landes, die garantierten Rechte an Eigentum und Kultur und die Gleichheit der Bürger vor dem Gesetz.

Im letzten Jahr hat die Labor-Partei nur den zweiten Platz gemacht. Doch mit der Grünen Partei und der politischen NZF (New Zealand first) gelang eine regierungsfähige Koalition unter der Führung Arderns.

My girlfriend gives me challenges every month, that I won't be that lazy. This month I will write it in my blog and it is about the New Zealand government. Here are coming a few facts.

The elections have the same system as in Germany. It is a Mixed-Member-Proportinal system. So you elect the representative with your first vote and the party with your second vote. One period lasts for three years. Special is, that there are several reserved seats for Maori.

The leader of the government is the Primeminister, or rather Jacinda Ardern since the end of 2017 and the general governor, who substitutes the queen. All ministers are involved and they form the highest committee.
New zealand is a full democracy which is based on a contitutional monarchy. The legislative is formed by the Sovereign (substitutes the british crown) and the House of Representatives (who are elected by the people).

The Queen ist still the Queen and the head of state. But she is substituted by the general governor. He will be designated by the Queen through the letters Patent and is recommended by the prime minister. Even here the position is held by a woman, Patsy Reddy, since the 28th of September 2017.

New zealand doesn't have an overarching document for the constitution, like the Grundgesetz in Germany.
But the treaty of Waitangi is seen as the first constitution. It contains the three most important things. The sovereignity of the state, the guaranteed righhts on property and culture and equality in law.

At the last years elections, the Labor-Party made the second place. But with the green party and the populist party NZF (New Zealand First), they formed a coalition which is able for the government.

Ich bin jetzt seit ca. 6 Wochen in Neuseeland. Mir fiel auf, dass viele Städtenamen und andere Eigennamen in Maori auf den Schildern stehen. Zum einen ist es echt mega, dass die Menschen hier so stolz auf ihr Land, ihre Kultur und ihre Geschichte sind aber zum anderen ist es als Neuankömmling schwer die Namen auszusprechen.
Also begann ich damit te reo Maori zu lernen. Zunächst wollte ich nur die Wörter richtig aussprechen. Jetzt bin ich soweit, dass ich ein Grammatikbuch und ein Wörterbuch bei mir rumliegen habe.
Die Sprache an sich ist recht einfach auszusprechen. Nur mit der grammatik hapert es etwas ;) (aber das tut sie bei mir auch in Deutsch)
Auf jeden Fall gebe ich mein Bestes um zumindest einige Sätze auf die Reihe zu bringen.

Pingu lernt Maori / Pingu learns Maori

I am here for six weeks now. I recognized, that on most roadsigns and the most names are written in Maori, too. On one hand it is good to see the proudness of the people on their Land, culture and history. On the other hand it is difficult for a new one to pronounce irt the right way.
So I started to learn Maori.
First I wanted to pronounce the words right. Now, here are a grammarbook and a Maori dictionary.
It is very easy to speack it. But grammar is not the easy. It isn't in german as well ;)
Anyway, I'll try my very best to speak it.

die Ankunft hier in Queenstown war spektakulär.
Die Reise an sich (30 Stunden in der Luft) war der Hammer. Zuerst ging es mit dem Zug zum Flughafen Frankfurt. Der ICE fuhr wegen Überfüllung 20 Minuten später in Stuttgart ab als geplant. Aber da ich genügend Puffer einplante, war mir das ziemlich egal ;P

Naja, am Flughafen angekommen, ab zum Check-In. Nur noch Automaten. Nix mit hübschen Damen am Schalter. So also spart man Geld (bei gleichen Flugpreisen). Aber auch das lief Reibungslos. Also eingecheckt und Gepäck aufgegeben (auch am Automat). Achja, überall stehen Hilfskräfte bereit um dem Passagier zu erklären wie er den Automaten zu bedienen hat, oder die Banderole am Koffer anzubringen hat. Nur der Security-Check ist wie immer. Alles ablegen, durch den Scanner usw. man kennt das ja.

Trotzdalledem endlich am Gate. Der A380 steht schon bereit. Der Flug nach HongKong verging, dank der Filmauswahl und 5 Stunden schlaf, (Auchtung schlechtes Wortspiel!) wie im Flug.

In HongKong hieß es warten auf den Anschlussflug nach Auckland/Neuseeland. 3 Stunden rumsitzen, sich an den Flugzeugen erfreuen (wenn man interessiert ist) oder lesen oder schlafen.

Danach ging es mit einer Boeing 777 der Air New Zealand weiter. Nochmal ca. 10 Stunden Flug. Auch hier dank der Hobbit-Trilogie kein Problem ;)

In Auckland angekommen, Passkontrolle und Einreise. Lief alles glatt. Ich freute mich, dass ich nun offiziell nach Neuseland eingereist war und wartete noch einmal 2 Stunden auf meinen letzten 2-Stunden-Flug mit einem A320 nach Queenstown.

Der Landeanflug zwischen den Bergen war überwältigend. In Queenstown angekommen wurde ich direkt abgeholt und mir wurden ein paar Eindrücke von der Stadt und deren Umgebung vermittelt.
Ich bezog mein Zimmer im Blacksheep Backpacker und verbrachte den restlichen Abend dort.

the arrival in Queenstown was spectacular.
The journey (30 hours in the air) was great.
First of all I took the train to Frankfurt Airport. The ICE had 20 minutes of delay in Stuttgart due to overfilling. I planned enough time to get to the airport, so it was irrelevant for me ;P

As I arrived at the airport I had to check-In. There are only machines. No women on counters.so they save money (at same price for the flights). But it all gone well. Thus, I checked in and give up my luggage. Also only machines. There are only a few staffmembers, who helps you, if you struggle to check in or label your luggage. Only the security is as it was. Put everything into the boxes, go through the scanner and go to the gate.

However I finally arrived at the gate. The A380 is ready. The flight to HongKong passed by, thanks to the films and 5 hours of sleeping, very fast.

Arrived at HongKong I had to wait for my next flight to Auckland. Sitting around, getting excited on the planes [if you are interested in ;)], reading or sleeping, it is up to you. So it was time for another 10 hours of flight with a Boing 777 from Air New Zealand. Here it was the same. I watched the Hobbit-trilogy so it wasn't bored at the flight.

As I arrived in Auckland I had to show my passport and visa. It all went well and I was happy. Finally I entered New Zealand. So i was waiting for my last 2-hour-flight to Queenstown in a A320.

The landing approach between the mountains was overwhelming. I was picked up instantly when I arrived and got some first impressions of the city and its surroundings. Then I moved into my room in the Blacksheep Backpacker and I rested there for the evening.
